POINT 02

A refined procedure that reduces tissue damage

With Ruby's refined technique, we work to reduce damage to motor nerves, blood vessels and muscles.

Which calf muscle development type applies to you?

When the outer gastrocnemius at the back of the calf is developed, the calf bulge stands out. We choose the surgical method that fits your type.

Medial development type

Medial development type

Spread widely, it develops easily and stands out most when wearing high heels or flexing. When overdeveloped, the inner bulge protrudes and the line becomes uneven.

Lateral development type

Lateral development type

It has relatively little muscle mass but develops due to genetics, excessive exercise or leg structure. When overdeveloped, the back bulge protrudes or the legs may look bowed.

Soleus development type

Soleus development type

The thickest and widest calf muscle. When overdeveloped, the inner and outer lines become uneven, and it develops more easily in bowed legs.

Combined development type

Combined development type

A type in which the inner and outer calf muscles develop together, enlarging the bulge and calf line into an overall muscular line. Common in athletes and people who enjoy exercise.

Fat + muscle development type

Fat + muscle development type

With plenty of both muscle and fat, the leg contour looks thick overall. It mainly appears with reduced lower-limb circulation, abnormal leg structure or body shape, and flat feet.

3 calf reduction methods

The key is a treatment suited to each person's leg type to create straight, slim calves. Depending on the muscle development type, we choose selective nerve block, muscle reduction or calf Botox.

Selective Nerve Block

This method selectively blocks the nerve of the gastrocnemius, the muscle that forms the calf bulge, using radiofrequency heat. Unlike conventional neurolysis that dissolved nerves with drugs, only the target muscle is treated, so surrounding tissue is barely damaged, and since the muscle is not burned directly, pain and swelling are mild and daily life can resume right away (varies by individual).

Notable volume reduction

Notable volume reduction

Creates calves that become evenly smooth on the inner and outer sides.

Minimal damage to surrounding tissue

Minimal damage to surrounding tissue

Only the nerve of the target muscle is blocked, protecting surrounding tissue.

Semi-permanent effect from one treatment

Semi-permanent effect from one treatment

Accurate, safe nerve blocking gives a semi-permanent effect from a single treatment.

Muscle Reduction Surgery

Medium or radiofrequency heat directly burns and reduces the gastrocnemius, so muscle can be removed partially only where needed. Applying heat directly to the muscle can cause swelling, and peripheral nerves tend to regenerate, which can cause recurrence, but Ruby has greatly lowered the recurrence rate with ultra-precise laser nerve blocking.

Light recovery

Light recovery

Recovery involves only temporary tightness and bruising.

Sensory nerves and muscles protected

Sensory nerves and muscles protected

There is almost no damage to other sensory nerves or muscles.

Markedly low recurrence

Markedly low recurrence

A clean procedure based on understanding calf muscles lowers recurrence and raises satisfaction.

Calf Botox

Botox temporarily paralyzes the gastrocnemius so the muscle shrinks. The injected Botox blocks the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter, leading to natural reduction, so the muscle can be reduced relatively safely and simply.

No scars or anesthesia

No scars or anesthesia

A simple treatment that leaves no scars and needs no anesthesia.

Short treatment time

Short treatment time

The treatment takes about 10 minutes and daily life can resume right away.

Repeat after 6 to 12 months

Repeat after 6 to 12 months

A repeat treatment is needed after 6 to 12 months, when the Botox effect wears off.

Frequently Asked Questions

We vary the consultation approach depending on where muscle has developed and the state of fat and swelling.

Are there types of calf muscle development?

Calf muscle development is divided into medial, lateral, soleus, combined, and fat + muscle types. Which area is the cause is confirmed at your consultation.

What are the calf procedure methods?

We explain selective nerve block, muscle reduction surgery and calf Botox individually. Before choosing a method, we look at your muscle development type and the state of fat and swelling in your consultation.

Post-Surgery Precautions

Side effect information: Complications that can generally occur after surgery, such as bleeding, infection and inflammation, may vary in degree from person to person, so caution is needed.
